Maryland is one of the leaders in preparing for both extreme heat and coastal flooding. The state is one of only a few that is taking extensive action to plan for its future risks, primarily through the Comprehensive Strategy for Reducing Maryland’s Vulnerability to Climate Change report.

Extreme Heat

Maryland is one of the national leaders in preparing for current and future extreme heat risks. Maryland is already examining its future extreme heat vulnerabilities and has idenfitied relevant adaptation options in its report, Comprehensive Assessment of Climate Change Impacts in Maryland.

Coastal Flooding

Maryland is also one of the leaders in the nation for its preparedness actions for current and future coastal flooding risks. Maryland has one of the only comprehensive coastal flooding adaptation plans that covers all sectors examined.
