Connecticut Inland Flooding

Connecticut is one of the leaders in preparing for inland flooding risks. It is one of only a few states that have taken action to create policies and funding opportunities to increase resilience to climate change-related inland flooding.

For more information on how prepared Connecticut is for its growing inland flooding threat, read the detailed state report.

Is Connecticut taking action?

  • The state has done more than most states to prepare for its current inland flooding risks and much more to understand how climate change influences its future risks
  • Connecticut is one of only a few states to plan for their future inland flooding risks; the Connecticut Climate Preparedness Plan serves as a statewide adaptation plan that covers inland flooding
  • The state has also taken several steps to implement recommendations from its climate change adaptation plan to increase the state's climate resilience
