  • The state's Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) produces the Ready for Wildfire website, which provides extensive wildfire preparedness information for Californians

  • Over the past ten years, more than 400,000 acres have burned each year, on average, on U.S. Forest Service land in California, which is almost three times the amount burned each year in the 1970s
  • From 2003-2012, nearly half of all the money spent fighting wildfires in the western U.S. went to California fires
