Arizona Wildfires

Arizona's wildfire threat is among the highest in the nation. It gets a failing grade for its average level of preparedness in the face of a very high threat level.

Is Arizona taking action?

  • Arizona has taken some action to plan for, but almost none to adopt, wildfire-related adaptation measures to meet its future risks
  • Like most other states, the state has plans in place to address its current wildfire risks, including Arizona Firewise and the Arizona Wildland Fire Equipment Mobilization Plan
  • The state's Hazard Mitigation Plan, along with other plans and communication materials help the state address its current climate risks
